Cascade Lamp  

Cascade is a 3rd year undergraduate lamp project. The lamp features a solid concrete base and walnut ‘lampshade’ enclosing the central light surrounded by a jungle environment. The illuminated water pools on the jungle floor and the central light are both dimmable and adjustable by a touch sensor found at the top of the lamp, through Arduino technology.

The primary focus of this project was development through making and prototyping, experimenting with new materials and process, and bringing it all together into a cohesive and effective design. A more specific focus was exploring how water could influence the design whether present or implied.

The final design is a product of extensive prototype development across every asepct of the lamp, exploring different and new materials to create a diverse final model.
